The Marcellus Shale is a Middle Devonian age black shale which is also organically rich, thermally mature and siliceous occurring throughout the Appalachian Basin beneath much of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New York and Ohio.

The play is the result of a depositional system and history similar to the Barnett Shale. The Marcellus Shale has an extent of several times that of the Barnett Shale and some estimates of the recoverable reserves in the core Marcellus area exceed 350 Tcf.

The core area of the Marcellus play is expanding and is defined by shale thickness, pressure, and thermal maturity.

While the Company continues to consider other areas of the play, we are currently focused on the Southwest Pennsylvania and the Northwest West Virginia areas. Horizontal well results have consistently shown increases in both estimated ultimate recovery and initial production rates as the technology has improved.
Grenadier believes that it will be able to transfer much of its technical experience
from the Barnett to the Marcellus.
Leveraging on this knowledge and our extensive relations in the industry provides
us with an excellent platform to make us successful in the Marcellus Shale.
